To enhance workplace safety, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has updated regulations for Lifting Equipment (LE). These changes are designed to ensure that all lifting equipment used in various industries adheres to strict safety standards.

Understanding the New Regulations

The MOM's updated regulations require that all lifting equipment undergo load testing and examination. This process must be carried out by Authorised Examiner(AE). The subsequent year for re-testing or certification can be done by a AE. Competent Person can only service Lifting gear (LG). A competent person is someone with the required training, experience, and knowledge to evaluate the condition and safety of lifting equipment. For instance, they might have completed recognised training programs and accumulated practical experience in inspecting equipment like lifting gears, cranes, frames. In contrast, an Authorised Examiner is an experienced professional authorised by MOM to perform thorough inspections and issue MOM certificate.

The Role of Competent Persons and Authorised Examiners
